A Wine Project Artilce for Your Viewing

How About Adding a Wine Cellar to Your Home?

If you love wine, you might just want your very own wine cellar. Before you start hammering, there are a few things you should probably know and think about.

How About Adding a Wine Cellar to Your Home?

A true hobbyist won't settle for pre-made materials or designs. Instead, they prefer to do everything themselves whether that means planning a new game room or restoring a classic car. Wine enthusiasts operate under the same sorts of principles as any other hobbyist. You will often see these enthusiasts building their own wine racks or cabinets. While these projects may be on the small size, there's no reason that a wine collector cannot take on the mother of all wine projects - the wine cellar.

Some people may think that it's hard to add a wine cellar to a home, but actually, there are many different books, videos and websites that offer encouragement and ideas on how to construct your very own wine vault. Whether you'd like a small, closet sized wine cellar or a large underground one fit for a king, there are several items that all wine cellars have in common.

All wine cellars need to have a controlled temperature - between 50 and 60 degrees fahrenheit. This is the ideal temperature for wines, both red and white, to mature in. If your wine cellar temperature varies too widely or is too cold or warm, your wines may spoil or not age properly. Wine cellars must also have a controlled humidity level. The humidity of the natural caves and wine cellars where wine is aged tends to be around 70 percent, so you'll want your own wine cellar to mimic this level. In order to achieve these climate necessities, you'll need to have both a humidifier and a cooling unit, so that you can be sure to have your wine at its optimum condition.

Another thing you'll need to have is a plan. As males, this goes against our basic instincts, but trust me on this one. Basic plans for wine cellars tend to use quality woods, such as oak, to construct shelving units for your wine bottles. Another option is to order custom made shelving units to outfit your wine cellar. You'll also need to construct the room your wine cellar will be held in - which will require such materials as drywall, insulation and wiring. Depending on the location of your wine cellar, you might also need flooring and other materials.

Whipping together your own wine cellar can be an enjoyable and interesting experience. It can also be insanely complicated and complex. If you are looking for a hobby, grab a book and have a go. If you have an expensive collection, you should probably bring in the experts to save you a lot of frustration and keep from ruining your collection.

Meddersheimer Paradiesgarten Kerner Kabinett

The wines of the upper Nahe, with their small and scattered vineyards, are rarely exported. The Rheingrafenberg coop, the last in the region, has been producing fine wines from this area since 1929. Although small in size, the wines from this winery in Meddersheim are big in stature. This Kabinett from the 2002 vintage is a full-flavored wine with ripe apple flavors. And of course, this prime Nahe wine comes in the familiar cobalt blue bottle. MEK02 MEK02

Wine Racks for Storing Wines

To prevent wine bottles from being broken and to store wine in a cool, dark place you need wine storage racks. Storage racks allow you to organize your wine collection and keep it safe and sound. Wine racks also make it possible to display a great collection of wine bottles to others.

There are many kinds of wine storage racks available on market. You have to see how many bottles you need to store at a time and then choose a rack accordingly. You can even have a wine rack made especially for you, with your own customizations regarding color, size and dimensions. If you want to build a wine cellar in your house, then you can hire professional people to build custom-made wine racks for the cellar. These kinds of racks usually take up an entire wall and allow a large amount of wine to be stored in them.

Many wine storage racks have enough space to hold cases of wine as well as individual bottles. Some wine racks offer individual shelves and bin shelves designed to hold only one bottle at a time. This way you dont need to sift through bottle after bottle to look for the one you need.

There are online wine rack stores that allow you to browse through numerous wonderful-looking storage racks and decide for the one that best suits your needs. Most designer racks are made of either metal or wood. While purchasing online you will also come across special discount offers and other bonuses. You will be able to classify wine racks according to their material, height, width and shape. Decide your budget and buy beautiful wine racks for your great wine collection!

Anyone with a true taste for wine would like to add new brands to his or her collection every now and then, and for that matter there should be a wine rack in the house for storing wine. Storing wine in a safe place like a rack also helps to keep it out of the reach of children and the wine bottles are less likely to be mishandled or broken. There are many kinds of wine racks available out there; you just have to select the one that suits your needs.

There are hanging racks, wall racks and floor racks to choose from. Many wine racks will require you to put the different parts together and make it ready to hang. Wine racks are categorized into wooden and metallic racks.

The wooden ones are usually made of maple with the visual appeal and beauty it holds, in addition to the strength it provides. Wooden racks are more likely to withstand the temperature and humidity levels.

Make sure that the rack you have chosen will allow plenty of space between bottles to ensure air circulation. That will also help to protect the corks from drying out. Wine racks will allow you to arrange the bottles in some definite order. That way you will be able to search for some particular bottles whenever you need them.

There are many online stores that offer beautiful and long-lasting wine racks of many types and colors to let you select the one that appeals to you. Many of these websites offer free shipping and handling. You can even have some expert come to your house and build a customized wine rack for you.

Hattenheimer Deutelsberg Riesling Kabinett - Black Bottle

What a real treat for the lovers of our Black Bottle Kabinett from the famous Hans Lang Estate. This year's edition was harvested from the prized Deutelsbeg Vineyard in the prestigious town of Hattenheim. Winemaking can be traced back to Roman times but the real history of the Hattenheim Wine Industry begins in 1116 with the Cistercian Abbey of Kloster Eberbach. These monks kept a detailed record of their plantings (mostly Pinot Noir) that survives to this day. Hattenheim is also home some of the most renowned wine estates and restaurants in all of Europe. Annual gastronomy fairs are held in the Hattenheim Burg, a towered building that has dominated the center of Hattenheim since 1131. Hans Lang was very excited about this wine when he suggested we switch to this vineyard. After tasting the sample, Herr Lang had every reason to be enthusiastic. This is probably the finest Black Bottle Kabinett we have ever had. Tight and clean, this Riesling has an intensely floral nose with a hint of honey and almond. The balance between fruit and acidity is a signature of well made Rheingau wines. What a perfect way to kick off the New Year with this elegant and stylish Kabinett from one of Germany's top winemakers! You can buy this German white wine online! HDK04 HDK04
